Autism Awareness Fundraiser Workshop
World autism awarness week is 26th March – 2nd April 2016. I have teamed up with Manny Ngo to raise money and awarness for children with autism.
Autism is a lifelong developmental disability that affects how people perceive the world and interact with others.
Autistic people see, hear and feel the world differently to other people. If you are autistic, you are autistic for life; autism is not an illness or disease and cannot be ‘cured’. Often people feel being autistic is a fundamental aspect of their identity.
Autistic people may also experience over- or under-sensitivity to sounds, touch, tastes, smells, light, colours, temperatures or pain. For example, they may find certain background sounds, which other people ignore or block out, unbearably loud or distracting. This can cause anxiety or even physical pain. Or they may be fascinated by lights or spinning objects.
Manny and I agree that children with autisim may find it difficult to participate in group situations like a yoga session and how important sensory play can be a coping mechanism. Therefore we have decided to put on an event which will consist of a free flow sensory session along with a family yoga session.
All abilities and ages welcome, this event is free however we ask for a voluntary donation towards this charity. We will also have a cake and sweet sale as well as a raffle.
Please register your attendance although you can still turn up on the day.
