A veteran destroyer of the Falkland Islands conflict, HMS Exeter has taken a starring role at this yearâ€™s ten day London Boat Show which officially opened on Friday.

The Type 42 destroyer as a London VenueÂ is hosting several high-profile receptions, lunches and dinners on behalf of show organizers during the event at ExCel Centre Docklands London.The vessel is also open daily to visitors to learn about the role of the modern Royal Navy and how it fits in with the UK maritime community. Royal Navy frigates have been popular attractions at the show since 2004 but this year is the first time a destroyer has been involved as a fully fledged venue.

Type 42 Destroyers form the backbone of the Royal Navy’s anti-air capability. They are equipped with the Sea Dart medium range air defence missile system, designed to provide area air defence to a group of ships whilst being effective against surface targets at sea.

In addition to their role as an air defence platform, Type 42 Destroyers operate independently carrying out patrol and boarding operations.

Exeterâ€™s Commanding Officer, Commander Paul Brown, said: â€œI am delighted and extremely proud that HMS Exeter has been given the opportunity to represent the Royal Navy at one of the countryâ€™s most important london maritime eventsâ€.

Event Production

The Event Management and Production Company will conceptualise and design the look of the event within the clients budgets and requirements.

The Theming company will generally be called on for parties, balls and annual company events where specific theme is required to help market the event or just to make it more interesting. Theming companies that provide themes will have their own sets, bars and various equipment to help with the conceptualising of the theme.

The Lighting company is equipped with moving lights or intelligent lighting also known as automated lights and generic lights. The lighting company is there to not just provide light but to create the ambience and look of the event.

The expert crew is hired on day rates as they will be there for the entire event.

The artistes are the musicians and comedians who most often will be the people involved in entertaining at the event if there is a cocktail reception or dinner involved.
